on the wall of the ground floor hall in Toho Taya hangs calligraphy bearing the characters for the word "ignorance". it served as a much needed reminder of my true nature as i made my way to and from the temple each morning and evening.

    It's an interesting snapshot of Shin in the sense that a Zen temple would probably have calligraphy of 'true nature' or something like that!
