ch-ch-ch-changes...

up to this point the blog has really just been myself blathering and reflecting on various things - my experiences in Shinshu, discussion of teachings, interfaith dialogue, art and Dharma etc. recently i began to read "The Words of My Perfect Teacher" by Patrul Rinpoche, and being outside of the tradition the text belongs too, was eager to discuss it with a Vajra friend. he suggested we hold the discussion via the blog, taking it a chapter at a time and giving an opportunity for others to be involved as and when they choose.
i thought this was a great suggestion but rather than just have myself post and then wait for others to comment, invite friends also reading, or having read the text, to contribute whenever they come across something in "Words" they'd like to discuss.

i think this would be a great opportunity for dialogue between the Shinshu and Tibetan traditions, maybe foster some understanding of commonalities and differences and ultimately raise awareness and appreciation of one another's schools and their teachings, focussed round a discussion of the text. hopefully at the least it will be an interesting experiment and at the most it will offer something of interest and/or value to anyone involved either actively as contributor or passively as reader.

  1. I'm really excited about this - especially if some of your Vajrayana friends join in. I don't know that it will be the first Shinshu - Vajrayana dialogue but certainly a rare event.
